You've already installed your home electric fireplace.  Now you need to keep it in good condition.  Home electric fireplaces are not hard to maintain.  You just have to do it regularly to keep it clean and in good condition to prevent it from malfunctioning and save you the inconvenience of having your electric fireplace repaired or have some parts replaced.  Here are some tips to maintain your home electric fireplace.

Do not install your fireplace over thick carpeting.  Thick carpets may have fibers that block the air inlets of your fireplace and interfere with the heating process leading to accidental fires.  Avoid installing your electric fireplace over a thick carpet.

Inspect the electrical components and wires regularly to be sure that they are in owrking properly.  Remove and replace any damaged, frayed, or exposed wires.  Avoid using the fireplace unless  you have replaced those wires.

If your fireplace has a brass component, keep it shiny by using a brass cleaner.

Don't turn your fireplace into a storage place.. This will cause wear and tear, making it look old.  Use a cabinet for that purpose.  If you have an electric insert with mantle,  you can use the top to show off your collections,  books or pictures.

Water and mild soap should be used for cleaning the glass parts and use a non-fiber and non-abrasive cloth.  Unless recommended by your manufacturer, do not use glass cleaners.

If you notice the light of the fire or ember is darker on one side, replace the light bulb.

For safety purposes,  don't start maintenance job with the power cord still plugged in.  Turn the fireplace off and make sure that the wire is removed from the power outlet.  This will prevent electrocution and keep your fireplace from being damaged.
